She married William W. Reed on Nov. 25, 1954, in Kentland. He preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1996.
Mrs. Reed had been a member of Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette for 40 years. She was a past member of the board of directors at the YWCA, participated in Cosmos and helped establish the YWCA Women's Shelter. She held various officer positions with Psi Iota Xi sorority and was a member of the John Purdue Club for many years. Besides her memberships and volunteering, she enjoyed traveling, playing golf, bridge and bowling.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Reed (wife: Barbara) and Constance "Connie" Korn (husband: William), both of Lafayette, and Steven Reed (wife: Julie) of Indianapolis; a sister, Mary Reed of West Lafayette; and a brother, John Petersen (wife: Janie) of Fowler.
Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Christine Reed, Kathleen Reed, Maureen Reed, Carson Korn and Madison Korn. She devoted her life to friends, family and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed but always remembered for birthday shopping with her grandchildren, attending grandparent's day at school, baking cookies and preparing noodles. She also enjoyed vacationing with family and friends and her Saturday morning breakfast group. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Stevens, and a brother, Walter Petersen. The family would like to especially thank Fr. Bob Klemme for his friendship and spiritual guidance, Dr. Wael Harb and his staff at Horizon Oncology and the entire staff of University Place for their compassion and caring.
