Son of William Redus and Calpurnia Ligon Greenwood Redus. Brother of William Calhoun Redus, Aaron Redus and Greenwood Redus. He was born on his father's ranch in Medina County, Texas. Roscoe served in the Spanish American War in Company D, Texas Infantry. He was a Texas Ranger in Company B of the Texas Rangers.
