In Memoriam;
George Kenny Redifer was born in Hickory County, Mo on Feb. 24, 1883, and died at Portland, Oregon, from Typhoid Fever, on July 11, 1905.
He was a true and devoted son, a kind and loving husband. He was united in marriage with Miss Hettie L. McDonald, on March 11, 1905. He was kind in disposition and magnanimous in his nature, and always had a wide circle of friends. He was a member in good standing, of the Woodmen of the World, and carried $1000 insurance in that order for the protection of his family. The many expressions of sympathy and grief by his friends indicate the warm place he held in their hearts.
He was baptized into the Baptist Church by Elder W.G. Miller, and at the time of his death he was recognized as a true Christian and a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. His father said that at the last moment he realized that he must go to his eternal reward and he asked him to sing, and they sang the old song, " On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand," and "My Latest sun is Sinking Fast," and then he said, "I am ready to go." Twenty --three years old when he died.
"Going up with a faith calm and steady,
His day's work completed at noon,
Oh! tell all my friends to be ready,
The Master may call for them soon."
The above Memoriam was sent to Juliane by Milton Redifer,( son of George Kenny's brother Robert Arthur ) it was the death notice from the paper. I transcribed it as written.

The McDonald family traveled West by wagon train with the Redifer family of Jacob H. Redifer, brother to George's father Robert. The families arrived two years after the Robert Porterfeld Redifer family. Hettie's sister Ada Hannah had married George's cousin Elbridge Walson Redifer in Coffey County, Kansas before heading West.
George and Hettie had been married only 4 months to the day when he died.
