Born in Lafayette on Dec. 19, 1934, to the late Wilbur Rayburn and Olive Ostendorf Rayburn, he was a 1950 graduate of Buck Creek High School. He had also resided in Logansport and the Frankfort area.
He was a hog buyer for Wilson Food, which later became I.B.P., for 25 years. He retired in 1997.
Mr. Rayburn was a member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed showing cattle, playing cards and farming.
Survivors include his companion of 30 years, Nellie Sliger; a son, Barry Rayburn of Michigantown; and two daughters, Daphne Peterson of Plymouth, Wis., and Teresita Rayburn (husband: Gary Wortman) of Bradenton, Fla.
Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with service there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall will officiate. Interment Pretty Prairie Cemetery. Six grandchildren also survive: Cameron, Gina and Miranda Rayburn, Kylie and Nate Peterson, and Kelsey Williams. Preceded in death by a daughter, Michele Ford. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and/or the 4-H Foundation.
