Parkersburg Man Expires Suddenly Just Above Lowell
Hard Work and Heat Too Much for Foreman On New Line
Heart failure, superinduced by over-work and the intense heat of the previous day, caused Mr. Isaac Ray to drop dead while at work on the extension of the Parkersburg-Marietta and Inter-Urban Electric line from Lowell to Beverly, late Saturday afternoon, at Adams' station, about a mile above Lowell.
Mr. Ray had worked hard all day Saturday and no doubt his death was partly caused by over-work, as he had a weak heart. Organic heart trouble was given as the direct cause.
The deceased was a well known resident of Tavennerville, South Side, Parkersburg, and was employed as a foreman of a section gang on the construction work of the new car line by R. T. Martin, a contractor.
The remains were taken in charge by an undertaker in Lowell and prepared for burial. On Sunday morning the body was sent to his home in Parkersburg on an inter-urban car. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Ray home.
Mr. Ray was 55 years of age and leaves a widow, three [sic (four)]daughters and one son to mourn the loss of a devoted father and husband. The children are all grown.
The deceased was a cousin of Officer Charles Ray, Mr. Ray of the Leader Restaurant and of Mr. Ray the barber in Lowell. He was well known here and his death comes as a sad blow to his friends and relatives.
