Marian L. Auker, 74, Roaring Spring, died Tuesday afternoon at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Aulander, N.C., daughter of the late Henry and Lessie (Dempsie) Rawls. She married Robert W. Auker on Jan. 26, 1957, in North Carolina.
Surviving are her husband; three children: Charmain Johnston and husband, James, of St. Marys, Ga., Patricia Gainey of Ladson, S.C., and Robert W. Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Altoona; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Shelby Kessinger and husband, William, of Buffington, S.C., Eileen Liverman of Aulander, N.C., and Maxine Dunning of Prince George, Va.; and three brothers: Joseph Rawls and wife, Peggy, of Clayton, N.C., Gerald Rawls and wife, Betty, of Weaverville, N.C., and Larry Rawls and wife, Pat, of Aulander, N.C.
Marian was a graduate of Aulander High School. She retired as the payroll supervisor at Altoona Hospital after 47 years of service. She was a member of Altoona Bible Church, and she enjoyed camping and bowling in the Friday Night Christian League at Holiday Bowl.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home Inc., Roaring Spring (www.thompsonfh.com), followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Pastor Stewart W. McClelland officiating. Interment will be made in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
