Jakob Raskob III "Pappy, Dad, Pete, Hermano" died on Friday August 22, 2008 at his home. Being the mathematician and number loving person he was, he died at 1111 P.M.
He is survived by his children, John IV (Robin), Kathy (Glenn) Van Loan, Peter (Sharon), Patti Wheatley (Howie Swenson), Pam (Steve) Monroe and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, AnnMissy (Steve) Borden, and eight nieces and nephews.
Pete was a complex person with a unique sense of humor, a devotion to St. Francis of Assisi, a profound way of thinking, a keen interest in unassuming philanthropy, a desire to challenge authority, a passion for trains, and an unending love for and interest in his grandchildren. A teacher of math and student of the world, with a delightfully rascally and (sometimes) endearingly independent spirit, he was a perpetual seeker, observer, synergist and facilitator, so deeply true to his core that he inspired those around him to be more fully themselves.
We would especially like to thank Visiting Angels (Najah, Heddy, Michael, Wendy, Lydia) and TMC Hospice for their compassion, support and loving care of our dad.
