Widow of Late Judge Succumbs
Rites Slated Saturday for Prominent East Carroll Woman


Lake Providence, Feb. 20 - Mrs. Katie Davis Ransdell, 84, widow of a former prominent judge and the mother-in-law of District Judge Frank Voelker, died at the home of a daughter here at 3 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Ransdell, a native of Franklin, Ky., had lived most of her life in East Carroll. Her late husband, Judge F. X. Ransdell, was judge for the sixth judicial district for over 25 years.

She was active in local civic work and was past president of the East Carroll Garden Club.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Newton Griffith officiating. Burial, under the direction of the Catron-Gay Funeral home, will be in the Lake Providence cemetery.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Martin Hamley, Mrs. Frank Voelker, and Mrs. Anna Cox, all of Lake Providence, and Mrs. Amanda Harmon of Baltimore Md. Eleven grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren also survive.
