Ada Aline “Granny” Stroud Rannals, 88, of Paris died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, in Paris Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, in Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial was to follow in Meadowbrook Gardens under the direction of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home.

She was born Ada Aline Sorrells on March 12, 1917, in Lamar County, the daughter of Mack and Ocie King Sorrells. She married Jesse Stroud on Nov. 10, 1939. He was a Paris police officer. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1968. She later married Esmel Jack Rannals on Nov. 10, 1969, and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2004.

She was a salesperson for Reagan’s Dress Shop for more than 20 years. She enjoyed cooking and canning, as well as gardening and quilting. She was a generous person, sharing her talents, love and creations of quilts and food with all of her family and friends. She was a person who would invite strangers into her home to feed them and show them love and compassion. She will be greatly missed by all those whom she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Sue Stroud Kent and husband, Bobby, of Paris; two granddaughters, Holley Tyler and husband, Tom, of McKinney and Christy Caldwell and husband, Shawn, of Paris; great-granddaughter, Serena Caldwell of Paris; numerous stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren from her marriage with Esmel Rannals; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
