ALIX, Mayme Marie nee Randall June 5, 1912 – January 17, 1999
Mayme Alix, 86, of 423 Colfax St., Augusta, passed away late Sunday evening, January 17, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Mayme Marie Alix, daughter of Homer and Ada Randall, was born June 5, 1912 in Chippewa County. As a child she attended the Drywood Country School, north of Cadott. She was united in marriage to Henry "Bud" Alix, on December 4, 1930 in Minneapolis. The couple lived in Chippewa and Eau Claire County where they farmed. Mayme had been employed by Silver Spring Gardens of Eau Claire. By McIlquham's Apple Orchard and in the housekeeping department of the Holiday Inn in Eau Claire. When they retired they moved to the Augusta Trailer Park in 1988. After her husband entered the Augusta Nursing Home in April of 1990; she moved into the Augusta Apartments. She broke her hip on November 8, 1988 and since November 18 she had been a resident of the Osseo Area Nursing Home where she was receiving therapy, in hopes of moving back to her apartment.
She leaves to mourn her passing: three sons, Joseph and his wife, Phyllis Alix and Richard and his wife, Caraline Alix all of Stanley, Daniel and his wife, Helen Alix of Eau Claire; two daughters, Vera and her husband, Maurice Haskins of Osseo, Shirley and her husband, Lester Henneman of South Bend, Washington; by two nieces raised by Mayme, Lois Nelson of Stanley and Betty Guynup of Cadott; by two sisters, Ruth Chevrier of Cornell and Helen LeTendre of Cadott, 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry on January 1, 1996, by an infant son, Delbert LeRoy Alix and by two brothers, Lester and Ora Randall.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 21, 1999, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Augusta, with Pastor Dong Su Lee officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Thompson Valley Cemetery, rural Augusta. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour before services at the church.
