Edward Lyle Ranck, 78 of Biglerville, peacefully went to be with his savior Saturday May 18, 2013 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer.
"Ed," devoted son of the late Edward L. and Ruth M. (Houck) Ranck, was born and raised in Lancaster, PA on October 16, 1934. Ed retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and served in both Korea and Vietnam wars. He met and married Lynda, his loving wife for more than 32 years, in Ridgecrest, CA. They later moved to Massachusetts where they raised their children. In 1999 Ed and Lynda returned to his home state and settled in the Biglerville area. Ed and Lynda enjoyed the surrounding beauty and history of the area, but most of all enjoyed the many close friendships they developed with their neighbors.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his two children. His son, Tony and wife Tricia along with their children Cohen and Salyna reside in Bothell, WA. His daughter, Tammi and husband Tony along with their children Anthony, Melissa, Kyle, Karrissa, and Dante, reside in Fairhaven, MA. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruth of Mt. Joy, PA.
Services to celebrate Ed's life will be held at 1pm May 24, 2013 at Monahan Funeral Home located in Gettysburg at 125 Carlisle Street. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Final remembrance will be held privately in a place of special significance for the family. Online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
