A native of Fermanagh, Ireland, Anna McBride Ramsey was a widow of a man named Mr. McBride, who was believed to have drowned in Quebec, Canada. She and her mother-in-law were from the same parish in Ireland.

She became the first wife of Henry George Evans, who she met and married in DeWitt County, Illinois sometime before 1853. They had six children. The family was living in Johnson County, Missouri in 1870. They later moved to Willow Lake township in Redwood County, Minn. She died in 1879; however, the year of death was inscribed on her marker as 1880.

Children:

1. Mary Jane 1853-1927, married Myron Wallace

2. Henry George 1856-1930, m. Laura Wandry

3. Frances Gertrude 1858-1913, m. John Gorres

4. Anna Lyal 1860-1945, m. Everett Ebenezer Labarr

In census records, her last name is given as McBride; in her marriage record, she used the last name of her stepfather, Henry Evans. She married William F. Smith in Brown County, Minn. in 1876.
