Death Came Last Night After a Lingering Illness from Paralysis--The Funeral Will Take Place This Afternoon at 5 O'clock from the Late Residence.

After lingering between life and death for several days, Mrs. W. J. Finger expired last night at 9:30 o'clock. She died as peacefully as she lived, surrounded by those she loved, to whom the end, though it had been momentarily expected since Saturday last, came as an irreparable loss--a grief unspeakable.

About three years ago Mrs. Finger sustained a stroke of paralysis fromm which she never fully recovered. She regained her health sufficiently to be able to be up and about her household duties, but Saturday evening she sustained a second stroke, from the effects of which she never rallied.

Mrs. Finger was in her 55th year. In May, 1874, she came to Charlotte a happy bride, having been united to Mr. Finger at her home in Lincoln county on the 20th of that month. As Miss Mollie Ramseur the deceased was one of the most popular young ladies in Lincoln county and a noted beauty of her day. The union was one of unalloyed happiness.

Surviving the deceased are the devoted husband and father and six children. They are Mrs. W. B. Pickens, Misses Ethel, Mary and Anna Belle, and Messrs. Gordon and Will Finger. She leaves also two brothers and two sisters--Mrs. B. G. Johnson, of Lenoir; Mrs. Ed Henderson, of Charlotte; Messrs. W. J. Ramseur, of Lenoir, and Milton Ramseur, of Lincolnton. All of these have been constantly in attendance at Mrs. Finger's bedside during her last illness, except Mrs. Johnson, who is herself too ill to leave her home.

Early in life Mrs. Finger embraced the Presbyterian faith and since taking up her residence in Charlotte she had been a consistent member of the Second church. The funeral services will be held this afternoon from the late residence, 305 East Sixth street, and the interment will be made in Elmwood Cemetery.
