Charles A. Rambo went home to be with Jesus on July 29, 2009. A long-time resident of Sewell, NJ, Charles spent his childhood on Penn Street in Woodbury and at Lake Gilman. Charles graduated from Woodbury High School and Gettysburg College, where he was a star athlete in basketball, football and track. Between high school and college, Charles served as a pilot in the US Air Force.
Charles was married to Elsie (Hutchinson) Rambo for the past 61 years. Together they built a house in Sewell and raised their family of three: David Rambo, Melody Rambo and Beverly Rambo Deinarowicz. They have 10 grandchildren: Kelly Rambo Hallahan, Scott, Jack and Elisa Rambo; Charles VanLeuven III, Darryl & Jenna Baldwin; Sherri, Kristen and Ashleigh Deinarowicz; and 6 great grandchildren, Aimee, Mackenzie, Zoe, Caleb, Seth and Timothy.
Charles worked hard over the years, first with Texaco and then as one of the first IBM computer repairmen. He was known as someone who could fix anything! He was a member of Barnsboro United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He demonstrated his deep love of family and his devotion to God through hard work and faithful service to his church, his family and his neighbors. Until his death, Charles resided with his wife Elsie, at Collingswood Manor, Collingswood NJ.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family Sunday 6:30 to 8:30 PM at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ. Funeral service will be held at Barnsboro United Methodist Church, 677 Main St., Barnsboro, NJ on Monday at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Eglington Cemetery.
