Aunt Pearl was born June 26, 1918 on the Waggoner Farm near Benjamin, Knox County, Texas, the fourth daughter and sixth child of J.M. and Nettie Railsback. With a birth weight of 1½ pounds she was not expected to live. Surviving against all odds, she lived 95 years to spread hope, joy, faith, and love into the lives of friends and family which included four generations of nieces and nephews.
At an early age, Pearl responded to God's call and became a member of the family of God. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Seymour. Listening to and singing praises to God was a vital part of her ministry of faith.
A long-time resident of Seymour, Pearl loved and supported her community as a waitress at the Riverside and many other restaurants. She was a faithful servant to friends and loved ones in the Seymour Hospital and in the Seymour Care Center. During her recent stay in the Munday Texas Care Center, her loving and joyful presence was an inspiration to fellow patients.
Our "Aunt Pearl" is remembered for her beautiful smile, her sparkling blue eyes, and her gentle spirit and loving heart. She loved to play Bingo and to try her luck at scratch-offs and the casino in Oklahoma. A generous person, she was always eager to share her blessings. Memories of her devotion to her family, friends, and her faithful dog Brandi will be cherished forever.
Pearl Railsback Carter was preceded in death by her husband Tom; her parents J.M. and Nettie Railsback ; brothers, Charlie and Floyd Railsback; sisters, Artie Peek, Edna Everett, Myrtle Brown, and Ruby Crawford; nephews Charles and Don Railsback, Robert Brown, Bobby Peek; nieces Louise Collier, Betty Bohanon, and Patsy Howeth.
She is survived by Raydean Brown Damon, Evelyn Brown Bailes, Ruth and Larry Shook, Gilbert and Janie Railsback, Thomas Floyd Railsback, Jimmy and Donna Bright, James Howard Peek, Norma Rheam, and Faye Railsback; and a host of 100+ four generation great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
"Aunt Pearl" blessed all of our lives. We are thankful and grateful for the loving care given to her by Wichita Falls Hospice and Munday Care Center.
