Loyd C. "Bud" Ragland, age 88, passed away at his home in Logan, NM to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 4, 2013, following an extended illness.
Bud was born November 9, 1924, at Hale Center, TX to William and Ina Pearl Ragland.
He married Bernice Payne April 29, 1947, in San Jon, NM. He served his country in the United States Navy and participated in the Battle of Midway during World War II.
He worked for 25 years with Arch Hurley Conservancy District where he became manager before he retired in 1987 to Logan, NM where he enjoyed gardening. He was an active member of the Temple Baptist Church of Tucumcari, loving his pastor and church family with all his heart.
Surviving Bud Ragland is his wife of 65 years, Bernice, of the home, his children, Darlene Smith and husband Leon of Logan, NM, Norma Love & husband Ray of Tucumcari, NM and Steve Ragland and wife Margaret of Tucumcari, NM, eight grandsons, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Billy Don Ragland and wife Sharon of Tulsa, OK and his sister Patsy Urbin and husband Bill of Minneola, TX along with numerous extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, by two brothers, one sister and 2 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday morning, February 9, 2013, in the Dunn Memorial Chapel beginning at 10:00 AM with his son, Pastor Steve Ragland, and Pastor Wes Stewart of the Temple Baptist Church officiating. Grandsons will serve as pall bearers. Honorary bearers will be all members of the Temple Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the family plot of the San Jon Cemetery at San Jon, NM.
