Frances R. Chacon, 90, a long-time resident of Farmington, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was on born Oct. 4, 1925, in Arroyo Hondo to Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Rael. She was the fourth of seven sisters.
After 24 years of service at San Juan Regional Medical Center, she retired in December 1987 as a supervisor of the laundry and linen department. Frances enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, listening to Spanish music and going to the casino.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jose M. Chacon; parents, Manuel and Anita Rael; son, Jesse Chacon; daughter, Betty Louise Chacon; and baby daughter, Angel Marie Chacon. Also preceding her in death was her granddaughter, Jillmarie Martinez; and six sisters, Teodora Garcia, Lupita Santistevan, Rose Martinez, Viola Wilson, Lucia Arellano and Piedad Rael.
She is survived by her children, Georgina (Herb) Medina, Piedad Frances (Lawrence) Pino, Frank (Frances) Chacon, Stella (Jose) Cruz, Joann (Joe) Valdez, Manuel (Theresa) Chacon, Darlene Martinez and Pamela (Ernie) Mosley; 25 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and sister, Connie Pacheco.
A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 404 N. Allen Ave., in Farmington. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with celebrant Father Tim Farrell. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mark Pino, Wade Chacon, Chris Valdez, Art Chacon, Michael Valdez and Joseph Mosley. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.
