Marie Raabe, who was married to a Wizard of Oz Munchkin, performed in vaudeville's largest midget troupe, Rose's Royal Midgets.

PENNEY FARMS, FL - Marie Raabe, 82, a vaudeville performing midget and wife of a The Wizard of Oz Munchkin, died of injuries suffered in a car accident that injured her husband.

Raabe died late Wednesday at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, where she was taken after the accident early Tuesday near Penney Farms, about 25 miles southwest of Jacksonville.

From 1929 to 1932, Raabe worked as a member of Rose's Royal Midgets, the largest midget troupe in vaudeville.

Meinhart Raabe, also 82, who played the Munchkin coroner in the 1939 movie, was listed in good condition with a broken ankle and ribs Thursday at Columbia Orange Park Medical Center. He has been moved out of intensive care to a private room.

The couple, married 51 years, moved to Penney Farms retirement village 11 years ago.
