Miss Elma J. Rutherford, 85, of 733 N. Fifth St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday
evening at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home,
Manitowoc. The Rev. William Harvey will officiate with burial in Evergreen
cemetery, Manitowoc.
Miss Rutherford was born June 19, 1891 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Perry
and Minnie Snyder Rutherford. She attended Manitowoc schools and never married.
She had been employed in the office of Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. for more than
50 years, retiring in 1960. Miss Rutherford resided at 73 N. Fifth St. and cared
for her mother who lived to the age of 102 years. She continued to live alone
since her mother's death. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
Survivors include three brothers, William, of Cleveland and George and Kenneth
of Manitowoc, five nephews and two nieces.
There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church
in her memory.
