WILLIAM F. RUNGE

William F. Runge, 59, of 1612 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died early Sunday
at his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church,
Manitowoc, with the Rev. Gervase Zanotti officiating. Burial will be in
Evergreen cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Runge was born Oct. 19, 1902, at Milwaukee, son of the late Frank and
Bertha Genske Runge. He attended schools at West Allis and was graduated
from high school there. He was employed at Fleischmann Malting Co. at New
York and at Watertown, Wis. He married Gertrude Wesler Dec. 13, 1924, at
West Allis and the family resided at Watertown before moving to Manitowoc
in 1927 where he was employed at Rahr Malting Co. and later for the Anheuser-
Busch Co. He served as production manager from 1940 to 1962 for the Rahr
Concern and in the same capacity for the Anheuser-Busch Co. until his death.
He was a director, president and board chairman of Memorial Hospital,
Manitowoc, and served on the building committee of the hospital. He was a
member of the First Presbyterian Church, a past president of Manitowoc Rotary,
served on the building committee of the church, was a member of the American
Society of Brewing Chemists, Master Brewers Association of America, West Allis
Masonic Lodge 291, Manitowoc Chapter 16, Manitowoc Commandery 45, Manitowoc
Council of Masons 18, Manitowoc-Two Rivers Shrine Club, the Tripoli Temple of
Milwaukee, Scottish Rite and a 32nd degree Mason.
Among survivors are his wife, a son, William J., of Shakopee, Minn.; a daughter,
Mrs. George (Virginia) Appleton of Honey Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. Stanley
Novak of Milwaukee and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday when
the casket will be moved to the church and the body will lie in state until
time of services. The casket will be closed.
Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc, or to Memorial
Hospital.
