Frances (maiden name unknown) married first William Adams, who died by 20 June 1677, Northumberland County, Virginia Colony. Her 2nd husband was Richard Routt, as named in a lawsuit filed in court 6 Oct 1687, "Richd Rout as marrying Frances Adams, widow of William Adams, from business debt of deceased husband, William Adams. William and Frances were the parents of John Francis Adams Sr. of Northumberland County. Richard and Frances were the parents of Mary Routt Crosby Matheny, Frances Routt, Ann Routt, and George Routt. Research has proven she was not Frances Bale who married Capt. William Adams 1683, Adams of Welton, Oxfordshire, England.
