Lisa A. (Schulz) Rohrer, age 48, of Manitowoc, died late Tuesday night, June 22, 2010 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.
Lisa was born on October 19, 1961 in Sheboygan, a daughter of Ray and Ginny (Stein) Schulz.
She was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School with the class of 1980. She continued her education by obtaining a Bachelors Degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1984, a Masters Degree in social work in 1987 and in 1989 earned a Masters Degree in library science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Lisa worked as a social worker in Manitowoc and Dane Counties.
On April 14, 2000, she married Mark Rohrer in Manitowoc.
She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish in Two Rivers; St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Council of Women; and volunteered at LaDeDa Book Store and the Manitowoc County Historical Society. While working for the historical society, she received a president's award from former president, George W. Bush.
Lisa faced many challenges over the past eight years of her life due to a brain injury from an automobile accident. She made huge strides to overcome her disabilities while struggling with kidney failure. She will be remembered as a woman with a big heart, a beautiful smile, a deep faith in her God, and an inspiration to all.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Rohrer; her parents, Ray and Ginny Schulz of Sheboygan; one sister, Jean Benzine of Silver City, NM; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Annette Rohrer of Two Rivers; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Michael (Beth) Rohrer of Wind Point, Steve (Sandie) Rohrer of Waukesha, and Stacy (Steve) Johnston of Centennial, CO. She is further survived by five special nephews, Zach Worzella, Samuel Rohrer, Maxwell Rohrer, Dylan Johnston and Ethan Johnston; her two cats, Winston and Gabriel; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lisa was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 28, 2010, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3218 Tannery Rd., Two Rivers. Officiating at the memorial mass will be the Rev. William G. O'Brien, with burial of her cremated remains to take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
