CAPT. MAGNAR G. ROEN

Capt. Magnor (sic) G. Roen, 82, of 404 St. Clair St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday
evening at Holy Family Extended Care Facility, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church Chapel,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Bruce Hanstedt will officiate with burial in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Roen was born May 10, 1894, at Empire, Mich., son of the late Louis and
Marie Roen. At the age of seven, he moved with his parents to Frankfort, Mich.
In the spring of 1909 he shipped out of Frankfort on the old Ann Arbor No. 2
and worked for the company for 50 years. He was a captain and sailed on the
lower lake boats for several summers, always returning to the Ann Arbor line
in fall and winter. He retired in 1960. His first wife, the former Florence
Clusen, preceded him in death in 1946. He married Iva L. Rhodes Oct. 21, 1950,
at Manitowoc, where they have resided since. He was a member of First Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Ralph, of Milwaukee, a daughter, Mrs. Claude
(Marie) Crosby, of Appleton and four grandchildren. A brother, Olaf, preceded
him in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 to 9 pm. Friday until
9 a.m. Saturday and then at the chapel until the time of service. Memorials may
be made to First Lutheran Church.
