She graduated from Anadarko High School in 1950 and began work as a nurse's aide at Anadarko Hospital. She met and married the love of her life, L.J. Nichols Jr. from Wynnewood, Okla. on Nov. 7, 1951.
Mr. Nichols Army career took them to Germany among many other army bases. After Mr. Nichols' retirement from the Army in 1963, they moved to Gatesville, where Anetta became a door-to-door Avon representative, often taking her four-year-old daughter, Cindy, with her. She then began working as secretary for the Chamber of Commerce in Gatesville for several years.

Anetta loved her scout troops and left them with many fond memories. Anetta worked in the finance and accounting offices at Ft. Hood, where she retired after 20 years. She and her husband then owned and operated Nichols grocery store for several years.
