VIOLET RASMUS

Violet Markwardt Rasmus, 77, of Longwood, Florida, died Tuesday, October 22, 1985 at Longwood. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Monday, October 28, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Rev. William Plank will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Rasmus was born June 12, 1908 at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Anton and Mary Fogltanz Hamernik. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers and Manitowoc County Normal School. She was a teacher and Principal of Newtonburg State Graded School. She married Lester Markwardt in 1930 at Two Rivers. He preceded her in death in September, 1966. She then married Harold C. Rasmus on November 5, 1968. He is still surviving. Mrs. Rasmus was Executive Secretary of the Manitowoc Family Service Association for 12 years and part-time deputy Civil Defense Director for Manitowoc County. She was a member of Eastern Star and was past International President of United Commercial Travelers in the United States and Canada 1966 - 1967. Mrs. Rasmus was very active in numerous other organizations and community affairs.
Survivors include her husband, Harold C. Rasmus of Longwood, Florida; a stepson and daughter-in-law, John and Elaine Rasmus of Alexandria, Virginia; three grandchildren, Kristen,Karin and Stuart; a daughter, Karen M. Jones of Mill Valley, California; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Markwardt of Manitowoc; a niece, Mrs. Roger (Dorothy) Koch of Two Rivers; her husband's nephews, Don C. Markwardt and Dale E. Markwardt of Manitowoc; other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Markwardt, brother and sister-in-law, Alois and Violet Hamernik and her parents, Anton and Mary Hamernik.
Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc, 12 noon Monday, October 28 to the time of services. Memorials may be sent to Widows and Orphans of United Commercial Travelers or to Hospice.
