Leontina Quintana Garcia was born in Antonito, Colorado on May 13, 1924 to Jose Guadalupe Quintana and Bibiana Martinez. Leontina graduated from high school in Antonito. In 1942, she moved to Denver, Colorado to work for Western Union and the war effort as a telephone operator. Leontina moved to Albuquerque in 1948 where she started working at Mountain Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator. Leontina transferred to Santa Fe, NM around 1960 where she continued to work for Mountain Bell. Leontina retired after 30 years. Leonita married Louis A. Garcia Jr. in 1963 at St. Anne's Church. Leonita belonged to the Santa Fe Woman's Club, and the American Business Women's Association where she was awarded the "Woman of the Year Award". Leontina was also an avid bowler. Leontina and her husband owned and operated Garcia's Tax Service on the Santa Fe Plaza where they helped the elderly and the poor with their tax returns. Leontina was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Garcia Jr. in 2004, and is survived by two sisters, Eufelia Espiņoza and her husband, Cicilio of Salt Lake City and Alice Stolpman, of Bellingham, Minnesota, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, including Marian Romero Yeske, Paul V. Romero and Hilario E. Romero of Santa Fe, Doreen Espiņoza, Cecelia Serrano, Vivian Quintana, Loretta Quintana, Tomas "Sonny" Quintana, Mitchell Quintana and his wife, Jerri, Shelia Batalla and Shelly Benavides of Salt Lake City, Patty, Denise, Pamela Maatz, Roger Larson, David Larson, and over 30 great and great-great-grandnieces and grandnephews. Viewing will be on Sunday, April 22, 2010 in the Berardinelli Mortuary Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 23, 2012, St. Anne's Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. (corner of Hickox & Alicia Streets). Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
