Death: Jan. 26, 2011

Mary Q. Lucero departed this world in peace on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 after 90 years of life. Mary is survived by her daughter, Anedina "Dina" E. Martinez and her husband, Ted, her tresured grandchildren, Claudine M. Martinez and Bennie Martinez D. and his wife, Molly and her joyful great-grandchildren, Diego an Dyson Martinez, as well as friends and other family members who were present and helpful during her lifetime and the last days of her life. Mrs. Lucero was preceded in death by her loving husband, Benerito "Bennie" Lucero, where they resided in a ranching community, Garita, New Mexico in San Miguel County. His death came at the early age of 54. Her greatest pleasure came for being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as being a caregiver in the healthcare profession to her many family members and friends. When Mrs. Lucero moved to Albuquerque after the loss of her husband, she was a member of Church of the Risen Savior during her active days where she made sure her grandchildren were taught the Catholic faith and instructed them in the dealings of the Catholic religion. Her other ties to a religious commuinty were the La Sagrada Familia in Garita, New Mexico. Interment will take place there, at the same place her husband is buried. This is a request that she had always shared with her family - to be buried at the same place as her husband, Bennie.
Family and friends may visit Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE on Friday, January 28 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Januray 29, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., also at Risen Savior Catholic Community. Interment will follow at La Sagrada Familia at 3:00 p.m. in Garita, New Mexico. The family wishes to thank The Retreat and Hospice of New Mexico for their loving care provided to Mary.
