COLAO - Anne C., 78 of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she was the Salutatorian of the all girls Bishop Mc Donald High School, Brooklyn, NY. She later moved to Cliffside Park where she and her husband raised her family and then in 1987, they moved to Spring Lake. Anne was a dedicated Communicant of St. Catharine's - St. Margaret's Parish, Spring Lake. She was a member of the Rosary group of the Church and for many years prepared the Altar linens. Anne was a longtime member of the Spring Lake Garden Club and had formed the Buds Group to teach gardening techniques to children. Her family said that Anne had volunteered her time with many groups and organizations during her life. Surviving is her beloved husband of 54 years Anthony F. Colao, her devoted children Peter and Janice Colao of Cliffside Park, Paul and Deborah Colao of San Francisco, CA, Andrew and Jennifer Colao of Bronxville, NY and her daughter Anne Terese Colao of Lake Success, NY, her two sisters Erin Cuff of Palm Desert, CA and Gail Crenny of Massapequa Park, Long Island, NY. She is also survived by five grandchildren Sophia, Christopher, Caroline, Connor Quinn, and Catie. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 2-5 and 7-9 PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday June 24, 2009 at 11 AM at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake. Entombment Thursday in Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, to be Private. In keeping with Anne's request, in lieu of flowers kindly make a donation to a charity of your choice in her memory.
