Joyce was the fourth of 13 children born to Florian J and Esther Eleanor (Diethelm) Van Sloun. She married Robert Joseph Quinn on January 30, 1947 in (Hennepin), MN. Together they had 9 children: Terry Lee, Michael John, Sandra Kathryn, Thomas Robert, Robert Joseph Jr, Patricia Ann, William Allen, Susan Marie, and Timothy Andrew.
