Doris was the daughter of Frederick Quimby and Elizabeth Bolduc Quimby.
Doris married Ashton Atherton.
Note: Doris M. Atherton, 70, died at her son and daughter-in-law's Rockport home, after an extended illness. Born at Glen Cove, Rockport, she was the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth Bolduc Quimby. She was educated in local schools and was a 1950 graduate of Rockport High School. After raising her family, she worked at 40 Fathoms in Rockland. She later worked more than 27 years with GTE-Sylvania, first at their Waldoboro facility and later at their Standish plant. More recently, she worked with Thomas Moser Furniture Makers in North Windham. Returning to this area, she first lived in Appleton and most recently in Camden. Pre-deceased by her husband Ashton Atherton in 1996, she is survived by one son Danny A. Stone and his wife Sharon Calaway Stone of Rockport; one daughter Eileen Field and her companion Leonard Ames of Hope; a sister Gladys Clark of California; three grandchildren, Johnna Field of Biddeford, Jason Stone of Rockport, Josh Stone of Orange, CA; a special niece, Mary Ellen Plato of Augusta as well as several other nieces and nephews. Mark L. Stockwell officiated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the American Lung Association of Maine, 122 State Street, Augusta, Maine 04330 or Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care & Hospice, C/O Northeast Health, 22 White Street, Rockland.
