Clair P. Quick, 81, of 770 Fountain St., Ashland, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.
Born in Fountain Springs, March 13, 1930, he was a son of the late John and Pearl Rhoades Quick.
He attended the former Butler Township School District, Fountain Springs, and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, earning the Korean Service Metal with three bronze stars.
He was employed as a coal miner for many independent mines and as well as the Hegins Mining Company and the former Neumeister Coal Company. He retired from Lindenmuth Lumber Company, working as a truck driver. He was a member of Hope Community Church, Mount Carmel.
Preceding him in death were brothers, John, Ross, Emerson, Leslie and Wilmer; and sisters, Doris Quick, Ann Athow and Violet Helwig.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Katie Butsko Quick; a daughter, Cheryl, wife of Larry Latsko, Woodland Heights; a son, Clair Quick, Ashland; a sister, Stella Bolich, Mowry; a granddaughter, Rachele, wife of Robert Neidig; grandsons, Clair J. Quick and Lawrence Latsko Jr.; great-grandsons, David M. Slotterback Jr. and Nathan Slotterback; nieces and nephews.
Private funeral and burial services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Memorials may be made to Hope Community Church, 551 W. Fourth St., Mount Carmel, PA 17851. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.
