Local Man's Wife and Brother Die
Double tragedy was felt in the home of Aaron Quick, 126 Middle st, Ashland, today when his wife Julia, died a few hours after the death of his brother Hannibal Quick, of Mahanoy City.
Mrs. Quick died early today at her home after an illness that extended over the past year. Her husband's brother died last night at 11:45 o'clock in Locust Mountain Hospital, Shenandoah, following a short illness.
Mrs. Quick, the former Julia Dietz, was 66 years of age. She was a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary, nee Stabler, Dietz, and was born in Ringtown on February 5, 1880. She had resided in Ashland, since she married Mr. Quick over 40 years ago.
The prominent local woman was a member of Zion's Reformed Church, and was an active in church affairs until her fatal illness.
To survive besides her husband, are these children: Mrs. William Seiler, of Ashland; Edna, at home; Chester, of Ashland; Mildred, of Verona, NY; and Marlin, a student at Wake Forrest College, Wake Forrest, NC.
Also surviving are these brothers and sister: Albert, Edward, and Jacob Dietz, of Ashland, and Mrs. Emma Brosius, of South Ashland.
Mrs. Quick will be buried on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Otto Funeral Home at 200 Centre St. Rev. Melvin Walper, pastor of Zion's Reformed Church, will officiate and interment will be in Fountain Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 o'clock.
