US Congressman. Born in King William County, Virginia, on May 11, 1781, he moved with his parents to Kentucky in 1780 and was one of the pioneer settlers of Pulaski County. He was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, (1811-12) and during the War of 1812, he commanded a company in the 2nd Regiment, Kentucky Militia. After the war, he served as a circuit judge and was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Congresses, serving (1817-20). After his term, he was appointed receiver of public moneys for the Cape Girardeau land district, for the offices at Jackson, Missouri. Returning to Kentucky, he engaged in agricultural pursuits, was a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives in 1828 and served in the Kentucky State Senate in 1840.
