Audra J. PUTMAN, 70, lifelong resident of the Athens community, died at his home, one-half mile west of Athens, at 8:25 p.m. Thursday. He had been in ill health for the past year.
A native of Fulton county, he was born Sept. 3, 1885, to David and Melissa J. (GINN) PUTMAN. He was married to Dollie SMITH in 1907. She died in 1924. In 1940, he married Evelyn JOHN, who survives. He was engaged in farming in the vicinity of Athens for many years.
Survivors are his wife, at home; three daughters: Mrs. Helen BACON of Akron, Mrs. Mary FRIDDLE of Wilkinson, Ind., and Mrs. Marjory HAROLD of Anderson; one son, David PUTMAN of Mexico; two stepchildren, Robert John PUTMAN of West Virginia, and Mrs. Betty SNOWBERGER of Monticello; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Folen PUTMAN of Akron and a sister, Mrs. Velda PENROD, of South Whitley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST Sunday at the Athens EUB church with the Rev. Lawrence WHITE officiating. Burial will be in the Akron I.O.O.F. cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sheetz funeral home, Akron, until noon Sunday, at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m.
