Doris is the dauther of Harold and Louise Putman, born in Lamar, CO. She grew up and attended school in Colorado, Missouri and Illinois. She had a brother John Putnam of Aurora, CO. and a sister Helen Jackson of Colorado Springs, CO. and a step-sister Corinne Clift in Eaton Ohio. In 1963 Doris married Virgil Bankes in Bushnell, Il. and had two boys, Nile and Jason Bankes, they gave her 5 grand kids. She divorced Virgil in 1989.
After closing her herb business, she became an over the road truck driver. She loved asking other drivers what their weirdest load was, she relished their bizarre tales.
After meeting Michael Shane Libby, a fellow driver, they team drove for many years before marrying in Sept 2005, when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She battled the cancer for two years, volunteering to try many new trial drugs.

Headstone has been moved to Doris's grandson's, Nathan Bankes's house.
