Cora Belle Pushard, 85, of Gardiner, passed away quietly on Thursday evening, Nov.14, 2013, at Glenridge in Augusta, with her family present, after a long illness. Cora was born and raised in Chelsea. She was the daughter and one of 12 children born to Raymond and Ina Markham, of Chelsea.
She was owner and operator of "Fred's Cash Market" along with her husband, Fred Pushard. The two built the market in 1962, and it was in operation for 35 years. Cora was a loving wife to her husband Fred Pushard and loving mother to her seven children, and two stepchildren. She was a wonderful "NANA" to all her grandchildren.
She loved living at her home on Tacoma Lakes before moving back to Gardiner, and wintered in Florida. She was always baking and making fudge when she wasn't working at the store. She also enjoyed raking and doing yard work.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick L. Pushard; and children Correna Anderson, of Georgia, Kenneth Trask, of Florida, Linda Pushard, of West Gardiner, Cindy Merry, of Litchfield, Frederica Shorey, of Gardiner, Warren (Tiger) Pushard, of Auburn, and Dana Pushard, of Litchfield; and stepchildren Frederick Pushard, of West Gardiner, and Dolores McKenzie, of Gardiner; and her 22 grandchildren and all her great-grandchildren.
Burial to be at Litchfield Plains Cemetery on Plains Road in Litchfield. (Kennebec Journal 11/16/2013)
