Ressie Ruth was the daughter of John Abraham Purvis and Nancy Jane Rogers. After the death of her sister Carrie, Ressie married her widowed brother-in-law, Lynward Franklin Andrews. She raised Lynn's 2 children by her sister Carrie, plus 4 children of her own.
