KILLEEN — A celebration of life for Gary Purser Sr., 79, of Killeen will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Killeen.
Mr. Purser died Thursday, July 28.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1932, in Liberty Hill. He moved to Killeen in 1941. In November 1951, he married John Helen Levy Purser. He founded Purser Construction Co. and later, Chafin and Purser. He built the Killeen Public Library, Killeen City Hall, several buildings at Central Texas College and the Extraco Bank building in Harker Heights. He developed residential subdivisions throughout the Killeen/Harker Heights area.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary "Bubba" Purser Jr.; two daughters, Elizabeth Tipton and Sue van Zanten; and seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Killeen-building fund.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
