2nd Lt. Brittain H. Purser, scion of a prominent Tangipahoa family of attorneys and judges, was killed in a Dec. 3, 1932 mid-air collision over Barksdale Field, now Barksdale Air Force Base. He was the base's first aerial fatality and also was the first fatality for his unit, the 20th Pursuit Group, since its formation at Mather Field, Calif., in November 1930. He was a member of its 77th Pursuit Squadron.
