JEAN PURDY
Jean Purdy of 154 Burgess Road, a retired longtime employee of Tansitor Electronics, died Thursday evening at Rutland Hospital after a long illness. She was 55.
Native of Bennington, she was born April 21, 1921 to Roy and Jennie (Blanchard) Knights and was married Sept 2, 1939 to Robert Purdy at the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of that church and had assisted at the Sunday School classes there on many occasions.
In addition to her widower, she leaves three daughters, Dale Loomis and Tracy Purdy, both of Bennington, and Shelley Purdy of Burlington; a son, Richard of Bennington, her mother, also of Bennington and five grandchildren.
A candlelight funeral service will be conducted this evening at 7 at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home by the Rev. Sidney J. Lambert, pastor of the First Baptist Methodist Church.
There will be no calling hours.
Entombment will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery vault, Bennington, pending burial in the spring.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Bennington Rescue Squad.
