I was raised 5 miles from Crystal, Mi. Born Dec 25, 1942 in Grand Rapids, Mi but moved to Crystal at 9 months old. My grandparents Alva Wiser and Bertha Collins-Wiser lived 1 1/2 mile east of our farm. The great grandparents lived 3 miles north of Bertha & Alva's farm, I beleive it to be Ettie & Dennis Collins. My aunt Lucile Wiser-Husted remembered her quite well and told be storys before she passed away a few years ago.

We're in Texas from Oct to May and in Michigan May to Oct.
Most of my information is from Court House in Stanton, Michigan, Montcalm Co. death records, I also did some research at the Michigan Geneology Library in Lansing, Michigan.
My Aunt Lucile Wiser-Husted passed away in 2005 at the age of 87, she helped me alot with information she remembered. Also my grandmother (her mother) wrote me in 1964 with information she remembered about her side of the family, Aunt Lucile also gave me the old family album with photo's and tin prints in it.
I have been in contact with a Eleanor Evans-Purdy (she alway said her husbond was no relation as he was from Ohio, but think we figured out that he was a distant cousin) her mother is Maud Bromley-Evans daughter who was the daughter of Mildred Albanie (Millie) Purdy-Bromley Alexander Purdy's daughter. Haven't heard from her in years, she was in pretty poor health at that time. Carol Wiser-Barnes
my grandmother was helen marian purdy lutjens. i have alexander purdy in my family tree, but his father's name was horace not forest. horace is buried in the purdy side of lester cemetary outside of quincy michigan. could forest have been a middle name or could his name have been forest horace? i have no middle name or initial and i would like to have my records correct. thanks gayla lutjens hammill.
I have a lot of info on this Purdy family.
To answer one of your questions, yes, mother Sally Purdy is also buried in Lester Cemetery along with a lot of the Purdy family. I have gravestone photos, and census records and much more.
But, I have no records of Scotland being their homeland.

Joseph Purdy was born in VT. and married Sally Smith in 1790 possibly in Vermont. They had lived in either CT. of VT. in 1791 where their son Horace was born. Between 1791-1796, there were 3 kids born in Saratoga County, New York.
In 1797 a son born in Washington Co., New York, and after that the family is found in Quebec, Canada. From 1802-1811 they were in Quebec, Canada.
One source says this Purdy family came from England.

Horace's widow did not remarry after his death, she is living with her son, Harrison Purdy in 1860, and with the Bickford family in 1870. She died 1871 in Branch Co., MI.
