Mary Ellen Bakke, 87, a resident of Mount Vernon, passed away on November 24, 2013 in Mount Vernon.
Mary Ellen was born on May 6, 1926 in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, to Harry and Lillian (Ellison) Pulsipher. She graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in June, 1944.
Mary Ellen married Stanley Bakke in January, 1946, and was the beloved mother of two sons, Stephen and Kenneth.
Mary Ellen worked for Evergreen grade school for over 20 years, retiring in 1988.
She and Stanley moved from their home in Sedro-Woolley to Mount Vernon in 2005, and resided there until her passing.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Stanley of Mount Vernon; sons, Kenneth of Mount Vernon and Stephen of Yorba Linda, CA; her sister, Leona Hansen of Mount Vernon, as well as many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and friends. Family was the center of Mary Ellen's life and she will be deeply missed.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m., at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme.
