Wife of Oscar Armstrong

Patricia Ann Prosser Armstrong passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at her residence in Stamford. Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. Pat was born on August 20, 1941 in Vernon, Texas to Joseph Carter and Thelma Jo Ross Prosser. She was raised in Crowell, Texas in Foard County, graduating Crowell High School in 1959. After graduation, Pat attended the Greenbelt School of Nursing at the Foard county hospital where she received her Licensed Vocational Nursing certificate. She married Jimmy Werley and they had two children. While employed at Vernon Center North in Vernon, Texas she developed an interest in counseling and attended classes in Fort Lyons Colorado. After graduation she accepted a position as the director of the Panhandle Alcoholism Council in Panama City Beach Florida, where she was a regular on the local television and radio stations. She also did various speaking engagements, education others on the dangers of substance abuse. Pat had a contagious smile and eagerness to help others. Pats father passed away in 1977 and she returned to Texas to be close to her family. Shortly after her return to Texas, she met the love of her life, Oscar. T. Armstrong. They were married in June 1980. Together they enjoyed hunting, unearthing arrowheads and family. Pat never met a stranger and made new friends everywhere she went. Many will remember her smile and the way she made you feel with her straight forward way of expressing herself and was truly an amazing lady. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl, TX. She is survived by her husband, Oscar Armstrong of Stamford, 2 daughters, Jo Evelyn Hake of Stamford, and Cynthia Sue Hancock of Plano, TX, 2 sons, Jimmy Dean Werley of Crowell, and Andrew E.
