Betty was born January 12, 1926, to Sylvester and Mary McCoy (Mahedy), one of four daughters, at Mercy Hospital Des Moines, Iowa. She is survived by her son James (Brian) Pritchard (Madison, WI) and daughter Anne Marie Lauer; grandchildren, Nick Lauer, Madie, Andy, Mike, Jason, Erica, and Edward Pritchard; and great-grandchildren Lilly Pritchard and Flori Bloomer.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, James (Darvin) Pritchard, eldest daughter, Mary Ellen Pritchard, and youngest son, Steven Joseph Pritchard.
Betty lived all of her life in Des Moines. She was a great elementary school teacher for over 30 years, and helped countless children, teenagers and adults by tutoring them in her retirement. Betty has lived the last few years with her loving daughter Anne and then with her caring niece Joanne Friend and her partner Marti Shepard. With Joanne and Marti's altruism, Betty was able to live in a caring family home setting that she so desired.
Betty will always be in our hearts and we take solace knowing she is in heaven looking down on us and guiding us to eternity with God.
