Brummer PhD, Mary Ann (Prince) SAN DIEGO -- Mary Ann Brummer passed away on Sept. 30, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born on March 23, 1929 in Detroit; daughter of Robert Graham Prince and Flossie (Russell) Prince, and married James Walter Brummer in December 1954. Mary Ann received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, and graduated with her Ph.D. in Philosophy from United States International University in 1969. She was a practicing psychologist for over 40 years in San Diego. Mary Ann enjoyed her work and had an active role in the community. She was a member of the San Diego Psychological Association, Mission Bay Rotary Club, San Diego Alpha Omicron Pi, and Point Loma Methodist Church. She had a strong commitment to Spiritual Healing and Mental Health. Mary Ann loved to read and do research, her collection of books would amaze anyone. She leaves behind her loving sons, Robert Douglas Brummer and Steven Prince Brummer; daughter, Barbara Sue Brummer-Smith (Douglas) and "adopted" daughter, Janice Theresa Brown. She was proud of her grandchildren, Cynthia Sue Smith and Tara Morgan Smith. She will be missed by her brothers, Graham, Gordon and William Prince. Dr. Brummer's memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17, at 4 p.m. at Mount Soledad Presbyterian Church. Service will be performed by Pastor John Moser. She will be buried next to her beloved James at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, CA.
