KERRVILLE - Mrs. Ruth Alberta Hunt, 92, a resident of Kerrville for 72 years and a prior resident of Brownwood, Texas, died on Thursday, March 31, 2005, at a Kerrville nursing center.
She was born on Oct. 12, 1912, in Marion, Illinois, to the Rev. Aaron Erastus Prince and Pearl Prince. Mrs. Hunt was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kerrville.
Ruth began working for the Legion, Texas, Post Office during World War II. Her late husband, Allen Hunt, was also employed there under Postmaster Colley. Later, after World War II, the Legion Post Office became a contract post office under control of the Kerrville Post Office and Ruth was transferred to that office. She served as Administrative Assistant to Postmasters Gober Gibson, H.T. Paul, Jack Humphries, Elldridge Wolle and Bob Hanson, retiring about 1989, with 45 years of postal service.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolene Maloney of Lacey, Washington; sister, Dorothy Prince of Odessa, Texas; three grandchildren, Michelle Smith of Olympia, Washington, Matthew Hunt Smith of Woodinville, Washington, and Leisa Cheney of Seattle, Washington; one great-grandchild, Hunter Smith of Woodinville, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Hunt, in 1963 [sic 1961].
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, with Ron Briley officiating.
Interment to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.
