Prince -- Charles McDonald Prince, a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico since 1985, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2001. Charles was born November 5, 1925 in Trinidad, West Indies to the late Smith and Alma Prince. He was the third of nine children. He was a policeman and fireman for 12 years in Trinidad and Tobago before relocating to Brooklyn, New York in 1957. He was employed by the United Nations for 25 years prior to retiring and moving to Albuquerque in 1985. Charles participated in sports competitively. He also managed the Merrymakers Steel Band in New York and was active in many social clubs where he coordinated bus rides, boat rides, and dances. He organized the Kiddies Carnival at the Labor Day Parade. Charles sang in the choir at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rio Rancho and was a member of the Lion's Club and President of the city's Friends of Many Cultures. He leaves to mourn his passing Marjorie Ann, his wife of 52 years; five sisters; two brothers; nine children, Annette, Anthony, Cheryl, Judy, Rawle, Sharlene, Terrence, Vilma, and Wayne; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends who love him dearly. A Visitation for Charles will be held in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., on Thursday, December 13, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 14, 2001 at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2903 19th SE, Rio Rancho, with The Rev. Judith Culver officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho, 892-9920.
