The family of Claudia Prince, 87 of Portales, will receive visitors on Tuesday August 25, 2009, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wheeler Mortuary. Funeral services for Claudia will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Portales. Pallbearers for Claudia will be Spencer Prince, Dick Ribble, Hubert Morgan, John Gentry, Caleb Gentry, and Stuart Ingle. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Duplicate Bridge Club, PRMC Home Health Care and Hospice, RGH Pink Ladies. Claudia will be laid to rest next to her husband H.T. Prince following funeral service.
Claudia was born on July 14, 1922, in Batesville, Arkansas to A.D. and Margaret (Leslie) Southard and passed away on August 22, 2009, in Clovis. When she was a young child, her family moved to Shamrock, TX, where she attended school and where she met her husband H.T. They were married in Shamrock on September 26, 1942. She lived for a short time in Amarillo while H.T. was in the military. She and H.T. moved to Portales in 1947 and opened a Welding Supply Company. Before H. T. passed away in 1995, she was very active in golfing and bowling and Member of the Conestoga Good Sam's RV Group. Claudia was also very active in the UDC, DAR, a charter member of the RGH Pink Ladies, with over 3000 hours of voluntary service, she was a life Master in Bridge and an active member of the Duplicate Bridge Club in Portales and Clovis. She was also a member of the PEO Sisterhood and an avid reader. Most of all she was a proud Grandmother of her two grandchildren. She was also very active in geneology and an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Claudia also enjoyed cross-stitching, oil painting, and knitting in her younger years.
Claudia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, H.T. Prince in 1995 and her twin brother, Archie Dean Southard. She is survived by her son, Kenny Prince and wife, Katrina, of Portales and her two grandchildren, Spencer and Kelsey Prince. Also surviving Claudia are her nieces and a nephew.
Memorial contributions may be made to the RGH Pink Ladies or the First United Methodist Church Building Fund.
