Helen P. Huffman, 87, of East Stroudsburg, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Pocono Lutheran Village in East Stroudsburg. She was the wife of the late J. Carlyle Huffman, who died in 1989.
Born on March 7, 1916 in East Stroudsburg, she was the daughter of the late Earl A. and Virginia (Canner) Primrose. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
She, along with her husband, owned and operated Mountain Lake House in Marshalls Creek for over 10 years.
She was a 1933 graduate of East Stroudsburg High School. She was very active in the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, having served as president of the Women's Association and a member of the Dorcas Circle.
She was a past president and Charter Member of the Marshalls Creek Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution.
She is survived by three daughters: Sandra Gordon of Stroudsburg, Katherine V. Dimmick and her husband, William of East Stroudsburg and Susan Huffman and her husband, Michael Lundquist of Marshalls Creek; three sons: Robert Carlyle Huffman and his wife, Diane of Marshalls Creek, Jay E. Huffman and his wife, Barbara of Marshalls Creek and Gary N. Huffman and his wife, Brenda of Marshalls Creek; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Irma Dube of East Stroudsburg; a brother, Richard A. Primrose of East Stroudsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, from the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, 55 Smith Street, East Stroudsburg, with the Revs. William Schram and Samuel Huffard officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
There will be a closed casket visitation from 10 a.m. Friday, until the time of the service at the church.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church, 55 Smith Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 or the Pocono Lutheran Village, 329 East Brown Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
