Mrs. Mabel P. Cook, 89, formerly of Fort Plain, New York passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Born on January 1, 1920 in Salt Springville, NY, she was the daughter of William Prime and Edna Nestle Prime. She was a graduate of Salt Springville School and was a lifelong area resident. She retired from LaSalle Labs in Canajoharie after 20 years of service. Mrs. Cook enjoyed embroidery. Mrs. Cook was of Protestant faith. She was married on December 3, 1939 in Fort Plain, NY to Clifford B. Cook. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1993. In addition to her husband Mrs. Cook was also predeceased by a daughter, Beatrice Coveny; a sister, Ethel Burns and six brothers, William, Jr., Herman, Howard, Sydney, Emory and Merritt Prime. Mrs. Cook is survived by her three daughters, Beverly and Roger Douglas of Fort Plain, NY, Helen and Butch Brown of Eastover, VT, Barbara Bridger of East Springfield, NY; two sons, Walter and Carolyn Cook of Salt Springville, NY, David and Donna Cook of Fort Plain, NY; and a twin sister, Mrs. Marion Cook of Palatine Bridge, NY. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
